About 1 out of 5 autos on the roads in the state of Texas is uninsured and now Texas law enforcement officials will know which ones they are. TexasSure, a financial responsibility verification program will soon be available to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas sheriffs deputies, Texas local police and vehicle registration offices.
The Minimum Auto Insurance Coverage Required By The State Of Texas Is Called “25/50/25″ Coverage.
- Minimum liability limits of $25,000 per injured person.
- Minimum liability limits of $50,000 for everyone injured.
- Minimum Property Damage limits of $25,000
The days of paying one month’s auto insurance premium and getting a 6-month auto insurance ID card to verify insurance coverage are over in the state of Texas.
Upon complete implementation of TexasSure, authorized users will be able to electronically confirm whether a registered vehicle or driver has auto insurance coverage in force or not.
The Texas Motor Vehicle Safety Responsibility Act defines “financial responsibility” as – ” . . . the ability to respond to damages for liability for an accident that arises out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of a motor vehicle.”
